Hobby Broadcaster Profile
Gerald R. Gaule
Classic Car Gold AM 1700 - Albany, ORJerry Gaule is no stranger when it comes to radio. Besides having spent time behind the microphone doing middays he is also a licensed ham operator.
Having purchased a Radio Shack AM transmitter kit at a young age, he was destined to end up in radio. Besides having a background in electronics and broadcast engineering, Gaule's information technology background came in handy while building his personal studio back in 2004. He launched his station, Classic Car Gold, in August, 2008.
Gaule describes his studio as "... messy, but functional." His station sports a Dell PC running the Zara Radio automation software. His transmitters consist of the SSTran AMT-3000 with built-in audio processing as well as Talking House II AM transmitter. He also procured a basic compressor / limiter for use on the Talking House transmitter.
Gaule reports very good feedback from neighbors regarding his station, which plays a format of music ranging from 1954 thru 1979 that includes oldies, soul, R & B, Funk. He also plays a variety of old time radio programming as well.
His plans for the future include pursuing a full fledged terrestrial radio station.
Jerry sums up his Part 15 station and his experience simply as "A ton of music, and FUN!!"
