Connecting The Equipment

This is a simplified overview of connecting and operating the basic Part 15 setup.

  1. Set transmitter audio level control to minimum level.
  2. Connect audio output of source equipment to audio input of transmitter.
  3. Set your transmitter to a vacant and clear frequency.
  4. Set your monitoring radio for the same frequency as the transmitter.
  5. Power on all equipment
  6. Start playback of your source and adjust the audio levels feeding the transmitter so it plays undistorted on your monitor radio.

If you are attempting to feed a stereo audio source (such as a CD player) into a Port 15 AM transmitter with only one audio input jack you may need to use a passive mixing adapter (i.e., "Y" adapter) or a powered audio summing amplifier to convert the stereo audio to mono audio.
